BERKLEE MAKES RECORD 4-1 ON THE SEASON

The Ice Cats returned to the ice this past weekend, finishing up their home-and-home series against Suffolk University. Berklee came out on top winning 7-5 over the Rams. Taylor Martin scored just 49 seconds into the first period giving Berklee the 1-0 lead, however, Taylor left the game shortly after with a minor muscle pull. Markus Stratton scored along with Jimmy Gately, giving Berklee a 3-2 lead. John Priest, who had a 2 point night, would add another making it 4-2 at the end of the second period.

At the start of the third period, Suffolk's frustration grew and a fight ensued between Berklee's defenseman Shawn Michael Brown and #21 of Suffolk. However, Berklee kept their heads cool and only had two minor penalties all game while Suffolk had four. 

Carter Lee tacked on 2 more goals for Berklee and Gately notched his second of the game. Suffolk would pull their goalie but it was to no avail as the horn sounded. Neal Warner, Carter Lee, and Ivan Chopik both had an assist each, with Gately having a pair of assists. Newcomer John Puailoa had a good game in his first appearance as an Ice Cat.

Jeremy Blas got the nod tonight in goal and won his second straight meeting against Suffolk, the first time being a 7-3 win. He ended with a goals against average (GAA) of 4.00 against Suffolk.

The Ice Cats now post a record of 4-1 (2-1) and will face Middlesex Community College next week in a back-to-back home and home series, February 20th at 8:50 pm at the Simoni Ice Rink in Cambridge, MA and will then visit MCC in Woburn the following day.

The Berklee Ice Cats are looking to kick-off the second half of there season. With recent graduates and students pursuing their careers, the team has decided to hold tryouts and is looking for 2 forwards and 2 defensemen. Tryouts are the first week of school Tuesday 01/19/2010 @ 10:30pm. Those interested would need to have full equipment by this date. November 14, 2009, Boylston Cup Here To Stay

Once again, the Ice Cats have defeated the Emerson Lions in the annual Boylston Cup by a score of 8-1 this past weekend. That makes it four in a row for the Ice Cats. The Lions have yet to win the coveted trophy having been outscored 30-15 in the last four years. Senior Mike Flynn got things rolling with a breakaway goal fed from Neal Warner. Carter Lee and captain Jimmy Gately added a goal a piece in the first with a pair of assists by Taylor Martin. The Ice Cats led 5-1 to at the end of the first period. Play began to get chippy as the both teams began to up the physical play. Carter Lee was given 5 minute major for fighting along with Breton Mcnamara and Justin Gray given multiple penalties. Taylor Martin finished with 1 goal, a tip-in deflection on a powerplay, and 2 assists. Neal Warner, Jimmy Gately, Markus Stratton tacked on 3 more goals in the third period. Goalies Zac Zinger and Jeremy Blas played outstanding keeping the Lions off the scoreboard since the first period. 

The Ice Cats want to thank all the friends and fans who came out and anyone else that has supported us this season. 

November 7, 2009 - Berklee Suffers First Loss of Season

Berklee lost to Bentley by a score of 12-6 two weeks ago. The reigning champs were quick to score, putting up 3 goals in the first minutes. Carter Lee got Berklee on the board first along with John Priest. Taylor Martin tied up to make it 3-3. Bentley went on to score 4 more goals to make 7-3 at the end of the second. At the beginning of the third, Taylor Martin went on a tear scoring 3 straight goals. He would end up with 5 points, tallying an assist. Berklee came back within 1 goal of Bentley, 7-6, but Bentley again answered back with 5 unanswered goals. Jimmy Gately had a 4 assist night and Carter Lee ended with 2 goals and 2 assists. Goalie Zac Zinger played an outstanding game have faced well over 60 shots. The Ice Cats now sit at 2-1 on the season.

November 1, 2009 - Berklee Dominates RISD in 12 - 0 Win

The Ice Cats defeated RISD in a non-league game this past Sunday winning 12 - 0. Goaltender Zac Zinger earned the shutout and the team continues to be undefeated with an overall record of 3 - 0 and a season official record of 2 - 0.

Berklee's next home game is on November 7th at 8:50 pm against Bentley at the Simoni Ice Rink in Cambridge.

October 24, 2009 - Berklee Ice Cats Defeat Suffolk University

The Ice Cats defeated Suffolk University Saturday night by a score of 7-3. The game was tied 0-0 at the end of the first but 4 minutes into the 2nd period, first year player Taylor Martin scored a power play goal to give the Ice Cats the lead. Soon to follow was senior Mike Flynn with a slap shot from the point on a power play, making it 2-0. Suffolk only answered back with 1 goal in the second period, making it 4-1 at intermission.

The game began to get rough with Suffolk getting 38 minutes of penalties and a game misconduct for fighting. John Priest of Berklee showed his power in his fight while Taylor Martin showed the turtle. Berklee opened things up wide in the third period tacking on 3 more goals to make it 7-3. Neal Warner, Markus Stratton, and Mike Flynn each tallied 2 goals along with senior Jimmy Gately having 3 assists and defenseman Shawn Brown with 2 assists. Goaltender Jeremy Blas played great and flashed the pads stopping breakaways and odd man rushes.

October 3, 2009 - Berklee Starts Season Off With a 12 - 1 Victory Over Emerson

 The Berklee Ice Cats opened their season during family weekend with a victory of 12-1. The team is really out to go all the way this year. Goals and assists were contributed by many members of the team and to name a few they were Jimmy Gately, Neal Warner, Mike Flynn, and Mike Santaniello. Newcomer goalie, Jeremy Blas, played sharp in net. The Ice Cats last game was rescheduled; therefore the second game of the season is this Saturday, October 24 at 8:50pm at Simoni Rink (our home rink), 155 Gore St. Cambridge, MA. We are playing Suffolk University. It should be a great game. Come out to support us!
